Being a Medical Policy Specialist establishes the proper codes to use for claims processing. Responds to questions from medical staff and communicates details about policy and guidelines. Additionally, Medical Policy Specialist requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. Requires Registered Nurse RN. The Medical Policy Specialist gains exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. Occasionally directed in several aspects of the work.     Responsibilities

    • Must be able to work closely with staff from all departments.
    • Must know how to read and understand Explanation of Benefits (Reviewing and interpreting documentation.)
    • Must be detail orientated
    • Must have basic mathematical ability
    • Ability to handle workload of posting responsibilities, recoups, answering phone calls from patients, insurance, attorneys, and any additional project that you could be responsible for.
    • Must be able to meet monthly duties and deadlines

    Qualifications

    • Excellent work ethic to include adherence to schedule and general attendance.
    • Ability to work independently with high attention to detail and reliable decision-making.
    • EMR experience (e-Clinical preferred)
    • Knowledge of different payers and policies e.g., Medicare, HMO, PPO, Medicare Advantage Plans etc.
    • Knowledge of medical practice revenue cycle processes.
    • Patient service communication experience (preferred)

    Experience

    • Medical Billing: 1-5 years preferred

    Job Type: Full-time

    Pay: From $16.00 per hour

    Expected hours: 40 per week
