Understands medical terminology and the use of transcription software and equipment. Being a Medical Records Transcriptionist requires a high school diploma. May require Registered Healthcare Documentation Specialist (RHDS). Additionally, Medical Records Transcriptionist typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Medical Records Transcriptionist works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. WHAT WILL YOU DO
This individual transcribes medical dictation to provide a permanent record of patient care, types miscellaneous reports, and files and retrieves slides and reports, in support of Pathology services in the laboratory.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR :
High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
At least one year related experience and / or transcription training, or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
Basic knowledge of computer terminals and printer usage.
Previous experience with hospital information systems preferred.
