Medical Staff Credentialing Director is responsible for all aspects of the verification process for medical staff incumbents. Provides regulatory oversight and guidance to the credentialing process. Being a Medical Staff Credentialing Director maintains working knowledge and ensures continuing compliance with state, federal, and institutional standards and guidelines. Develops and implements policies and protocols related to medical staff verifications and ensures that the organization and staff are in accordance with organizational and industry standards. Additionally, Medical Staff Credentialing Director analyzes reports on applications and credential status to identify trends and improve the credentialing process. Presents files to the credentialing committee and may act as a liaison to state medical licensure boards regarding the status of license applications. Requires a bachelor's degree. May require Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS). Typically reports to senior management. The Medical Staff Credentialing Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Medical Staff Credentialing Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. Accurate and timely completion of all new provider applications and re-credentialing applications. 2. Track and enter provider data into the system. Electronic files should be complete, current and accurate. 3. Maintain provider files of credentials, provider numbers and signed contracts. Paper files should be complete current and accurate. 4. Accurate and timely information is provided to contract carriers. 5. Maintain network and billing systems files for provider status. 6. Effective and timely communication with site and CBO for addressing credentialing issues. 7. Responsible for submitting Medical License and DEA invoices. Maintain an accurate and up to date log to ensure timeliness of renewals. 8. Answer telephones within 3 rings and is friendly and helpful. 9. Other duties as assigned. LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS: N/A EDUCATION: Minimum: High School Diploma. YEARS OF EXPERIENCE: Minimum 2 year experience in provider credentialing, revenue cycle or other related field At least 12 months of experience as a Credentialing Specialist I at St. Elizabeth. REQUIRED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE: Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks, knowledge of Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint and the ability to learn other computer skills. Must have good organizational skills and work professionally with doctors, hospital administration and management, SEP employees and the public. OTHER REQUIRED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE 1. Understanding and knowledge of insurance credentialing application procedures. 2. Strong organizational skills. 3. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality, per corporate policies. 4. Knowledge of computer skills and applications. 5. Excellent communication skills. 6. Demonstrated ability to work successfully in a team-based decision-making culture. 7. Demonstrated ability to work independently resulting in effective outcomes and on-time performance. 8. Experience in planning and coordinating multi-disciplinary communications strategies, strategic initiatives, and events. 9. Must respond and follow through to requests from customers promptly. 10. Must work carefully and precisely with attention to detail. 11. Must utilize resources wisely. 12. Performs duties willingly and with initiative.
