    Merchandise Buyer – Consumer Products 

    Full Time / Permanent Position 

     

    Reporting to Director - Consumer Products, the Merchandise Buyer willberesponsible for sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing merchandise to alignwith Cirque du Soleil’sstrategicgrowth goals.  This position willensureproductdevelopment and operationalstrategies are fullyimplemented to maximize revenues and net profitability. This rolewillbe part of the Consumer Products team dedicated to meeting divisional goals, company sales targets, and developingproductsreflecting Cirque du Soleil and individualshow’s brand stories. 

     

    Roles and Responsibilities  

    ·       Identify and analyzemarketdemands, consumer trends, and historical/current sales data to makeinformedbuyingdecisions  

    ·       Collaboratewith the merchandise team to curate a compelling and profitable product mix aligningwith the company’s sales objectives and target audience.  

    ·       Conductnegotiationswith lead suppliers to ensureadvantageouspricing, discounts, and delivery timelines whilemaintainingproductquality.  

    ·       Maintain and establishrelationshipswithsuppliers, manufacturers, and vendors.   

    ·       Conductregularvendorevaluations and activelyseek new supplier opportunities.  

    ·       Works closelywith finance team to manage open-to-buy budgets  

    ·       Closely monitor merchandise sales against budgets and adjustpurchasingstrategies as needed.   

    ·       Work in partnership with Planning Team to closely monitor and control inventorylevels to avoidoverstock or stockoutswhileanticipatingnextmarketneeds/demands.  

    ·       Utilize data analytics to interpretsales reports, inventory, and product performance to makeinformedbuyingdecisions.  

    ·       Identify areas of continuousimprovement and makerecommendations on product exit strategies. 

    ·       Collaborate with Director to set competitive retail pricing, meeting fan expectations andmaintaining healthy profit margins.  

    ·       Ensure compliance with all legal and regulatoryrequirements of products.  

    ·       Work closelywith internal team and external partners to plan, align, and executepromotional and marketing campaigns.  

     

    Qualifications and Experience  

    ·       Bachelor’sdegree in Business, Merchandising, Supply Chain Management, or a relatedfield, or on the job/workequivalentexperience 

    ·       Minimum of 5-7 years buying experience in traditional and/or non-traditional retail outlets, preferably in the entertainment industry  

    ·       Strong analytical skills to interpret data and market trends.  

    ·       Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing market conditions  

    ·       Time management skills and ability to prioritize tasks effectively 

    ·       Strong attention to detail and robust organizational skills 

    ·       Ability to work cooperatively and share ideas. 

    ·       Ability to collaborate effectively across disciplines and cultures. 

    ·       Knowledge of all MS Office and Adobe Products is an asset
