Merchandise Planner, Sr. jobs in Minnesota

OVERVIEW

This role is best suited for an experienced merchandise planner who thrives in a high-energy, fast-paced environment. This role’s core responsibilities are to create pricing and product assortments offered within the television programs that maximize the revenue opportunity while properly balancing product assortment and price points. Our planners work closely with our Merchandising, Finance, Web Operations, Line Producing, and Programming teams to drive revenue performance while exceeding our customer expectations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

A Senior Merchandise Planner is responsible for helping to drive the execution of Pricing, Scripting, Inventory Management and Promotional strategies for their assigned categories. Key responsibilities include:

• Work in coordination with both the Sr. Director of Planning and the respective category Merchandise Buyer to analyze sales and inventory trends and help create compelling pricing and product assortment recommendations for on-air programs and the website.
• Price items according to margin model guidelines and place in shows to balance the assortment.
• Organize show flow with a balanced mix of exciting items including reorders, existing, and new styles with specially crafted stories that include strong calls to action.
• Use promotional pricing and handles to accelerate sales of specific items to maximize revenue and manage inventory.
• Partner with the planning manager/director to secure SPOTLIGHTS, THIS DAY ONLY, and ONCE ONLY offers that will help your shows meet sales targets.
• Prepare inventory, sales reports and in-depth analysis, create show recaps and attend and actively participate in cross-functional meetings to review show performance and recommend improvements based on historical data trends.
• Help establish reorders for products and identify slow-moving inventory for liquidation.
• Review and analyze show/item performance to initiate next actions.
• Initiate and decide reorder levels for successful items and identify needs to liquidate inventory.

QUALIFICATIONS / KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

• Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Merchandising, Accounting, Finance, and/or Analytics.
• Deep understanding of retail planning in an omnichannel environment
• Prior experience driving and developing inventory management processes; use of industry specific planning software.
• Proven ability to drive sales
• Strong cross functional leader who works well in a fast paced environment.
• Demonstrated experience in a PC/Windows environment, and Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Excellent analytical skills are required, including the ability to recognize actionable trends in data.
• Strong teamwork capabilities.
• Action and results oriented with the ability to own/make decisions to achieve desired results.
• Communicate early and clearly.
