Being a Merchandising Manager collaborate with marketing, finance, and buying to Identify new suppliers and products that reflect consumer preferences and drive sales. Coaches and mentors merchandising staff to produce product assortments that reflect branding, buying trends and support seasonal customer demand. Additionally, Merchandising Manager typically requires a bachelor's degree in marketing, merchandising, business or other related field. Typically reports to a director. The Merchandising Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions.     Essential Job Functions:

    • Analyze market trends, consumer preferences, and sales data to determine the product assortment for assigned categories.
    • Select and curate products within the category, considering factors such as pricing, brand, quality, and consumer demand.
    • Monitor and manage inventory levels, ensuring stock availability while minimizing overstock or understock situations.
    • Collaborate with pricing teams to establish competitive pricing strategies that maximize profitability and align with market conditions.
    • Work closely with marketing teams to develop and execute promotional campaigns, including discounts, seasonal sales, and product launches.
    • Work closely with the purchasing team to build and maintain relationships with suppliers and negotiate favorable terms and conditions to secure the best products for the category.
    • Monitor category performance, analyze sales data, and identify opportunities for improvement and growth.
    • Stay updated on industry trends, competitor activities, and emerging market dynamics to make informed decisions.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including sales, marketing, purchasing, and operations, to ensure seamless execution of category strategies.
    • Prepare and present regular reports on category performance, including sales, margin, and inventory metrics, to senior management.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Requirements

    • Bachelor's degree in business, merchandising, marketing, or a related field.
    • Proven experience in retail merchandising or category management.
    • Strong analytical and data interpretation skills.
    • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
    • Proficiency in using merchandising software and tools.
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
    • Attention to detail and a keen eye for product selection.
