What you will do:

We are currently seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Utility Technician to join our team in Wallace, SC. The primary responsibility of this role is to perform preventive maintenance tasks on mobile equipment to ensure their reliability, longevity, and safe operation within our manufacturing facility

• Preventive Maintenance: Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance tasks on a variety of mobile equipment, including forklifts, loaders, trucks, and other material handling equipment, according to established schedules and checklists.

• Diagnostic Testing: Utilize diagnostic tools and techniques to identify potential issues or wear and tear on mobile equipment components, such as engines, hydraulics, transmissions, and brakes.

• Fluid Analysis: Perform regular fluid analysis and testing, including oil, coolant, and hydraulic fluid, to assess equipment health and detect abnormalities indicative of potential problems.

• Component Replacement: Replace worn or damaged parts as necessary, including filters, belts, hoses, tires, and lubricants, to maintain equipment performance and reliability.

• Documentation: Maintain accurate records of preventive maintenance activities, including inspection findings, repairs performed, parts used, and equipment downtime, using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) or other tracking tools.

• Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures while performing maintenance tasks, including lockout/tagout procedures, personal protective equipment (PPE) usage, and equipment guarding.

• Training and Collaboration: Participate in training sessions and workshops to stay updated on equipment maintenance best practices, safety guidelines, and regulatory requirements. Collaborate with maintenance and operations teams to ensure seamless communication and coordination of maintenance activities.

What we seek: 

• High school diploma or equivalent; additional certification in heavy equipment operation is a plus.
• Proven experience in equipment maintenance and repair, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
• Proficiency in using hand and power tools, precision measuring instruments, and diagnostic equipment.
• Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Flexibility to work overtime, weekends, and on-call as needed to support production schedules and emergency repairs.
