Power Line Supply (PLS) is looking to hire a full-time Electric Meter Lab Technician to join our growing team!

POSITION OVERVIEW

As an Electric Meter Lab Technician your scope of work will consist of performing tests, calibrating, maintaining and other repairs needed to service electric meters and instrument transformers, along with any attached devices.

Applicants must have the ability to demonstrate a working knowledge of basic electrical theory and practice. Adequate understanding of electrical connections and mechanical construction of all meter types and instrument transformers. Must be capable of utilizing electric testing equipment for accurate measurements. Ability to read and comprehend routine information and utilize various programs to enter and retrieve data. Must be neat and clean and capable of courteous communication.

Essential Job Functions:

• Processes new and service meters from receipt through shipment. This includes unpacking, receiving, inspection, calibration, repair, module verification, sealing and packing.
• Adequate understanding of electrical connections and mechanical construction of all meter types and instrument transformers.
• Tests new or service instrument transformers for ratio, phase angle and insulation integrity. Inspects, repairs, reconditions and retires instrument transformers as required.
• Inspects, tests, repairs and reconditions meter panels. Wire and verify wiring of non-standard meter panels from instructions or sketches.

Requirements:

• Experience or training in the area of testing of kWh metering equipment, and measurement of power consumption.
• Experience or training related to the installation of metering equipment.
• Experience or training in the testing or repair of self-contained meters as well as other types of metering devices.
• Any other qualifications contributing to the applicant's ability to perform the job.
