Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Middle Market Lending Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.   • The Market Manager oversees the operations of the Public (Flea and Farmers) Markets in the Public Market of the French Market District. The Public Markets are commercial enterprises involving several hundred tenants. They are a significant tourist attraction as well as a shopping area for residents, and a popular location for cultural events. The Market Manager will:

    • Provide supervisory and managerial oversight for the Public Markets and their cashiering staff.
    • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with new and existing market vendors.
    • Resolve conflicts between market employees, vendors, and visitors to the markets.
    • Receive input from the Vendor committee and decide what merchandise new vendors can bring in and what existing vendors can add to their stalls.
    • Ensure policies are publicly posted and vendors are notified of any changes, that vendors are in compliance, and that cashiers are issuing violation notices correctly.
    • Be able to perform all duties of the Public Market cashiers.
    • Provide assistance to the Cultural Curator for events in the Public Markets.

    The Public Market is open 365 days a year. The Market Manager will have to be prepared to work weekends, holidays, and other non-standard hours to properly manage the Public Market.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
    • Four years of professional administrative experience. Two years of this experience must have been in vendor, booth, or retail management.

    Additional experience in merchandise management is preferred.

    NOTE: These minimum qualifications are not negotiable; you must meet all the requirements as listed in the job posting.

    Kind of Examination

    A qualifying written examination and a rating of training and experience weighted 100%. All related previous experience will be considered for qualification purposes, however credit on the rating of training and experience will only be given for experience gained within the last ten (10) years.
