JOB GOAL: Maintain network operating systems and related applications.
Qualifications
Two or more years of extensive experience with network operating systems and applications.
Experience with VMware's Vsphere, Active Directory, G-Suite, and VNX preferred.
Knowledge of Cisco networking equipment and systems such as Cisco Prime and Cisco ISE preferred.
Verification of completion of an Associate of Arts/Science degree or higher degree, from an accredited college/university, with a minimum of fifteen (15) semester units of coursework in a computer related field with network/server administration preferred.
Excellent written/oral communication skills and ability to work as a part of a larger technology support team.
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the board of education may find appropriate and acceptable.
Essential Functions
Administers systems and servers related to district LAN and WAN (e.g. security, e-mail system, IP addressing, DNS, DHCP, filtering, proxies, backups, etc.) for the purpose of optimizing throughput, securing data, overseeing backup and recovery capabilities, and ensuring availability of services to authorized users.
Assesses malfunctions of network hardware and/or software applications for the purpose of determining appropriate actions to maintain computer and network operations.
Assesses network malfunctions for the purpose of determining appropriate actions to maintain computer and network operations and recommending purchases in support of network, personnel and curriculum.
Attends meetings, as assigned, for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions.
Coordinates network upgrades, changes and repairs for the purpose of minimizing risk and down time and maintaining availability of services to authorized users.
Develops long- and short-range plans for the design, installation, and maintenance of network equipment, policies and practices for the purpose of meeting the distributed processing technology needs of the district.
Installs computer equipment, network (client and server) software and hardware on a variety of platforms (e.g. service packs, application software, operating software, hardware upgrades, etc.) for the purpose of upgrading and maintaining equipment and software.
Maintains network operations and related software applications for the purpose of ensuring efficient program operations at district sites.
Plans optimum enduser solutions using current and emerging technologies for the purpose of maximizing benefits to all district personnel and students.
Prepares written materials for the purpose of documentation of procedures and protocols.
Procures equipment, supplies and materials for the purpose of maintaining availability of required items and completing jobs efficiently.
Responds to inquiries from district personnel for the purpose of providing information and/or solutions to network problems.
Perform other duties as assigned.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary and work year to be established by the board of education.
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the board’s policy on evaluation of classified personnel.
