Network Engineer develops and deploys plans and designs of network systems that will meet an organization's requirements for performance, security, and compliance with relevant standards and regulations. Conducts network architecture design, feasibility, and cost studies. Being a Network Engineer defines monitoring, maintenance, expansion, contingency, and recovery plans and strategies to ensure the network is responsive to changes in demand. Troubleshoots network issues and develops appropriate solutions, resources, and deployment processes. Additionally, Network Engineer keeps informed of the latest technologies to enhance knowledge of networking hardware, software, and best practices. May be certified in vendor-specific products. Typically requires a bachelor's degree in computer science, electrical engineering or equivalent. Typically reports to a manager. The Network Engineer work is closely managed.     Key Responsibilities:

    • Network Design and Implementation: Design, plan, and implement network solutions, including LAN, WAN, wireless, and security configurations, to support business needs.
    • Network Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance and upgrades on network hardware and software, including routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points.
    • Troubleshooting and Support: Diagnose and resolve network issues promptly to minimize downtime and ensure optimal performance. Provide advanced support for escalated network-related problems.
    • Security Management: Implement and manage network security measures, including firewalls, VPNs, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and encryption protocols. Regularly review and apply security patches.
    • Performance Monitoring: Monitor network performance using tools such as SNMP, NetFlow, and other network management software. Analyze network traffic and performance metrics to identify areas for improvement.
    • Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of network configurations, standard operating procedures, and troubleshooting guides. Keep detailed records of changes and updates.
    • Vendor Management: Collaborate with vendors and service providers to procure network equipment and services. Manage vendor relationships and ensure compliance with service level agreements.
    • User Training and Support: Provide training and support to end-users and IT staff on network-related topics. Develop and deliver training materials as needed.
    • Project Management: Lead and participate in network-related projects, ensuring timely completion and alignment with business objectives. Coordinate with other IT teams and stakeholders.

    Requirements

    Qualifications:

    • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
    • Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in network engineering or a related field.
    • Certifications: Relevant certifications such as Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), CompTIA Network , or similar.

    Skills And Competencies

    • Technical Proficiency: Strong knowledge of networking protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, etc.), network design, and implementation.
    • Hardware Knowledge: Experience with network hardware, including routers, switches, firewalls, wireless access points, and cabling.
    • Security Expertise: Understanding of network security principles and best practices, including firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS, and encryption.
    • Troubleshooting Skills: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to diagnose and resolve complex network issues.
    • Performance Monitoring: Proficiency with network monitoring tools and techniques. Ability to analyze network performance data and make recommendations for improvement.
    • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
    • Team Collaboration: Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment and collaborate with other IT professionals and stakeholders.
    • Project Management: Strong organizational and project management skills. Ability to lead and manage network-related projects.
