Nurse Practitioner - Hospitalist jobs in South Dakota

Nurse Practitioner - Hospitalist works in collaboration with hospital physicians to manage care for patients with stable and chronic illnesses. Orders, interprets, and records results of clinical tests and reports results to physicians. Being a Nurse Practitioner - Hospitalist prescribes medications and makes recommendations for other therapeutic forms of treatment. Makes patient rounds. Additionally, Nurse Practitioner - Hospitalist plans and coordinates rehabilitation, home health care, and follow-up services for patients with acute health issues. Requires a master's degree. Requires Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (CRNP). Requires Registered Nurse (RN). Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department.     Avera is currently seeking a Nurse Practitioner (NP) looking to deliver the best possible care in Avera’s patient-focused settings.

    Job Summary

    • Assumes the responsibility for the provision of primary care and medical management of patients at the clinic and/or hospital under the direction and supervision of a physician. Nurse Practitioners practice under the rules and regulations of the Nurse Practice Act of the state in which they work.

    Education and/or Experience

    • Graduate of an NLN accredited school of nursing or equivalent; graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program required.
    • Master’s or doctorate degree required.  

    CERTIFICATION, LICENSURE, and/or REGISTRATIONS

    • An active CNP license is required. 
    • Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of South Dakota and/or meeting the requirements of Multi-state licensure required. 
    • Federal and State DEA certification is required for South Dakota and Iowa employees. 
    • Federal DEA certification only is required for Minnesota and Nebraska employees. 

    Work Schedule

    • Varied Shifts; 80hrs/2wks
