**Introduction**
The Home Health program at Visiting Nurse Association (VNA) of Southeast Missouri offers skilled services in patients' homes as ordered by private physicians. Payment options include Medicaid, Medicare, and Private Pay/Insurance. VNA of Southeast Missouri operates as a not-for-profit organization.
**Type of Work Involved**- Assess symptoms of diseases and responses to treatment
- Education for patients and caregivers on self-care practices
- Providing information on medications, diet, disease processes, and activities
- Administering IV and injectable medications
- Performing prescribed treatments and wound management
- Offering ostomy care and promoting independence
- Communicating changes in the patient's health to physicians
VNA nurses are compensated per visit and receive either mileage reimbursement or a company car. Employees are expected to be available for on-call duties on a monthly and weekly basis and be accessible from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm daily. The role may require driving distances of 45 miles or more.
**Training**
New employees go through a 30-day training period covering organizational policies and procedures. Additionally, computer training is provided for using handheld devices during patient visits.
**Duties**- Assessing symptoms and treatment responses
- Providing patient and caregiver education
- Answering queries on medication, diet, and disease processes
- Administering medications and treatments
- Managing wounds and providing ostomy care
- Reporting health changes to physicians
- Minimum age of 18 years
- Ability to read, write, perform basic mathematical calculations, and follow instructions
- At least one year of experience in home health or nursing, along with a Missouri nursing license
- Access to reliable transportation and proof of auto insurance
- Successful completion of pre-employment drug screening and criminal background check
- Registration with the Family Care Registry
- Absence from the Employee Disqualification List (EDL)
- Completion of a comprehensive job application with a minimum of two credible business references
- Capability to lift at least 50 pounds
