Nurse Practitioner - Oncology jobs in the United States

Nurse Practitioner - Oncology works in collaboration with physicians and other members of the healthcare team to manage care for patients in an oncology setting. Provides quality care in all settings for cancer patients, families and staff. Being a Nurse Practitioner - Oncology orders, interprets, and records results of clinical tests and reports results to physicians. Prescribes medications and makes recommendations for other therapeutic forms of treatment. Additionally, Nurse Practitioner - Oncology assesses patient condition and may provide treatment using specialized medical equipment. Requires a master's degree. Requires Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (CRNP). Requires Registered Nurse (RN). Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department.   • Overview:

    Shenandoah Oncology is looking for a Nurse Practitioner (NP) who possesses exceptional interpersonal skills and a genuine compassion for patients. If you are passionate about oncology care and have the desire to make a meaningful impact on the lives of patients and their families, we encourage you to apply. The selected candidate will be responsible for providing comprehensive care to individuals, families, and patient groups who are facing cancer or other related diagnoses. This role encompasses a range of responsibilities, including prevention, screening, patient care, management, and research. The position requires a commitment of four days a week (Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday) with each workday consisting of ten hours. Additionally, the NP will be expected to be on-call for weekend and after-hours on a rotating basis, as determined by the schedule.
    Responsibilities:

    • Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates care for patients.

    • Initiates and documents appropriate interventions; evaluates and records patient/family response and prescribes therapies as indicated.
    • Performs procedures after appropriate training.
    • Assesses patient/family needs and provides education.
    • Promotes wellness and recommends community resources to meet patient and family needs.
    • Incorporates the developing knowledge of evidence-based research into clinical practice.
    • Developing knowledge of reimbursement procedures and documentation requirements.
    • Completes patient charge capture and medical record documentation in a timely fashion.
    • May provide case management for patients and their families, given limited knowledge of community resources.

    • May promote/provide staff education

    • Responsibilities may include rounding at affiliated hospitals and weekend or after-hour calls.

    • Other duties as assigned
    Qualifications:
    • Masters of Science in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited nursing school and successful completion of a Nurse Practitioner program.
    • This position is entry-level and typically requires a minimum of 0-3 years post MSN experience, preferably in the chosen specialty.
    • RN state licensure and current registration with the State Board of Nursing in practicing state.
    • Current state licensure as a Nurse Practitioner.
    • Current basic life support (BLS)/CPR certification required.
