Nurse Practitioner - Surgical works in collaboration with hospital physicians to manage care for patients in a surgical setting. Provides direct care and follow-up for patients in surgical care units. Being a Nurse Practitioner - Surgical orders, interprets, and records results of clinical tests and reports results to physicians. Prescribes medications and makes recommendations for other therapeutic forms of treatment. Additionally, Nurse Practitioner - Surgical requires a master's degree. Requires Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (CRNP). Requires Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. Responsible for the care of patients, administers medication and treatments as ordered by the physician. Coordinates care with other disciplines such as physical therapy, respiratory therapy, lab and pharmacy. Responsible to participate in a professional manner in all aspects of patient care.

Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program. (Bachelors preferred). Minimum of 1 years Med/Surg Nursing

Proficient in the English language, verbal and written communication skills, computer skills
LICENSURE
Current Louisiana State license as RN; BLS and ACLS Certification; PALS Certification Preferred
