The Nursing Education Coordinator will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and overseeing nursing education and training for Behavioral Health. This position will ensure that onboarding education and training is completed and documented across Behavioral Health as well as ensure that training and education materials are current with evidence-based standards.
This is a Full-time, benefit eligible position. Traveling to various sites is required for this position.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS – JOB SPECIFIC
• Responsible for ongoing Behavioral Health nursing education and training
o Maintains skills and knowledge of Behavioral Health education and training needs, staying current with evidence-based guidelines and best practice standards for patient care
o Reviews and assists with the design of onboarding orientation and skills assessment-oversight
o Teaches classroom-based courses through lectures and discussions
o Keeps training materials and skills checklist up to date
o Reviews Lippincott courses for inclusion in annual training
o Develops and implements in-service programs. Coordinates training with new employees and Regional Nurse Directors
o Oversees annual skills review-development and deployment
o Develops and implements remedial programs for nurses needing additional training/guidance
o Coordinates implementation and usage of nursing telehealth units to extend behavioral health access
o Collaborates with Chief Nursing Officer and Assistant Chief Nursing Officer (CNO/ACNO) to review needed nursing skills to assist with nursing shortage across Compass Programs
o Coordinates with CNO/ACNO in ensuring nursing staff meet all training requirements and assist with any needed remediation
o Collaborate with CNO/ACNO to identify, assess, and correct deficiencies in nursing skills and education
o Prepare reports on the status of training and education in Behavioral Health for reporting to the CNO/ACNO
• Responsible for supervision and direction of the Behavioral Health MA training program
o Helps to develop curriculum for nurse training programs in cooperation CNO/ACNO
o Coordinates training sites for students and preceptors
o Demonstrates techniques and best practices for students
o Reviews and updates training materials
o Participates in quality measures for program attendance and completion
• Responsible for training and education with new medication requiring specialized injection technique and medical devices use
o Participates in initial training from manufacturer
o Develops training guides for on-site clinical use
o Perform onsite initial training and education for device implementation
o Assist in collecting, analyzing, and developing annual needle device survey. Educates on follow-up of safer needle devices
