The director of nursing coordinates the nursing program within the skilled facility to maintain quality standards of care and advises medical staff, department heads and administrator in matters relating to nursing services. Establishes and revises policies and develops organizational structure and standards of performance. Interprets policies and objectives of nursing service to staff and outside entities. Promotes working relationships with outside agencies and with departments within the facility. Assists is maintaining department budget, personnel qualification requirements, maintains procedure manuals, initiates in-service programs, record and reporting systems, and tracking and trending systems. Initiates studies to evaluate effectiveness of nursing service in relation to their objectives and costs.
