Operating Room Services Director oversees the daily operations of the surgery department. Responsible for the procurement and maintenance of equipment and supplies, staffing and training of employees, and budgeting. Being an Operating Room Services Director may oversee pre- and post-operative care of patients. May require a master's degree in a related area. Additionally, Operating Room Services Director typically reports to an executive. The Operating Room Services Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be an Operating Room Services Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. Position Summary
Under frequent supervision, the Operating Room Nurse Aide is a multi-skilled individual who will spend the vast majority of time performing room turnovers, providing supplies and equipment as needed. The individual is also responsible for assisting the nursing staff in receiving and transporting patients to and from the perioperative region. Other duties are required and will be assigned.
Position Qualifications
Education and Experience
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations
Nursing Assistant certification helpful but not required
Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Promotes the mission, vision, and ICARE values of the organization.
- Room turnovers using established approved zone cleaning management practices.
- Basic established knowledge of aseptic technique or willingness to learn.
- Bed and clean linen management for clean entry to OR.
- Providing transport assistance to and from perioperative areas and patient transfers within the department.
- Restocking of commonly used OR supplies and inventory items.
- Operating room runner during operational hours.
- Responsible for positioning room and equipment organization.
- Assists in setting up operating rooms for procedures.
- Assists with decontamination and reprocessing needs.
- Participates in quality control, quality assurance and preventive maintenance activities.
- Attends and participates in equipment and supply in-services, evaluations and staff meetings.
- Promotes service excellence by demonstrating polite, cooperative, and respectful behavior to both internal and external customers.
- Assumes responsibility for completing mandatory educational requirements.
- Safeguards security and confidentiality of data/information according to HIPAA guidelines.
- Carries out duties safely and uses safety devices provided to protect self and others. Reports safety hazards as appropriate.
