Ophthalmic Technician provides technical services to assigned ophthalmic patients and assists ophthalmologists or optometrists in the examination and treatment of eye disorders. Takes patient history, conducts visual acuity screenings, and performs various technical procedures, including refractometry, tonometry, lensometry, and keratometry. Being an Ophthalmic Technician prepares patients for exams and procedures. Operates, maintains, and sanitizes ophthalmic equipment and instruments. Additionally, Ophthalmic Technician may assist physicians in performing minor surgical and laser procedures. May dispense contact lenses. Typically requires an associate degree. May require Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA). May require Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT). Typically reports to a manager. Job description
We are looking for an experienced, energetic, friendly, efficient ophthalmology technician lead for a two-physician multi-specialty ophthalmology practice. Our practice incorporates ophthalmology and plastic surgery, and the candidate will be expected to eventually become familiar with both sides. We will be adding an in-office surgical suite this year and the candidate can be cross-trained to assist with surgeries. (Don't worry, we'll train you!)
As a lead, you will be expected to not only manage a team of techs but teach them the various duties and hold them accountable when necessary. You will also assist in surgical procedures, oversee inventory, implement new protocols for clinic and equipment.
Applicant should be able to do a manifest refraction, applanation tonometry, and eventually become proficient at OCT, Pentacam, IOL Master, immersion A-scan, Optos, iTrace, and meibography.

Ophthalmic technician certification required. Sales and customer service experience, the ability to speak Spanish is a plus, and certification are looked upon favorably.
