Optician measures and fits contact lenses and eyeglass frames based on prescriptions written by ophthalmologists or optometrists. Takes precision measurements of eyes using a pupilometer and other devices to ensure proper fit of eyeglasses or contact lenses. Being an Optician assists and advises customers in selecting frames based on their prescription, lifestyle needs, and style preferences. Inspects lenses for quality, fits and adjusts eyewear, and repairs eyewear as needed. Additionally, Optician instructs customer on correct eyeglasses and contact lens care and maintenance. - Educate customers on lens options, coatings, and frame styles that best suit their needs
- Adjust and repair eyewear as needed
- Maintain inventory of eyewear, contact lenses, and accessories
- Process orders and handle payment transactions
- Provide exceptional customer service and address any concerns or questions
Qualifications:
- Minimum 1 year previous experience as an optician or in a similar role
- Strong knowledge of optical products, lens options, and frame styles
- Familiarity with medical billing procedures related to vision care services
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with customers and colleagues
- Detail-oriented with the ability to accurately measure and fit eyewear
- Knowledge of anatomy and physiology related to the eye is a plus
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Sales experience in a retail setting is beneficial
