Orthopedic Technician applies and adjusts plaster casts and assembles and attaches orthopedic traction equipment and devices as directed by a physician. Sets up bed traction units or rigs special devices as required, and inspects and adjusts bandages and equipment. Being an Orthopedic Technician requires a high school diploma or its equivalent, completion of Orthopedic Technician training and certification program. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. What would you do as a DME / Cast Technician?
The Durable Medical Equipment (DME) Technician is responsible for providing splinting services, fitting braces, and applying other DME for the treatment of patients.
After being fully trained in casting (6-8 months), the employee will be reclassified as a Cast Technician. You can expect to regularly :
Room patients when needed to maintain clinic flow.
Requirements
Certification / Education
High School Diploma / GED;
Knowledge of
Customer service principles;
HIPAA regulations and procedures
This position operates in a clinical environment.
The use of a casting saw may be required.
Travel : This position may require travel to other clinic locations based on manager discretion.
