Job Summary
The Compounder position is responsible for blending and mixing ingredients for sizable batches, to prepare for the production and filling of personal care products. This role requires that all tasks are executed in accordance with established standard operating procedures and specific work instructions to ensure quality and consistency.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Follow precise mixing instructions to blend ingredients in large kettles.
- Utilize scales to accurately weigh drums and raw materials.
- Safely transfer large drums to and from industrial ovens using assistive equipment.
- Document & record raw material and product measurements by following standard operating procedures, GMP and FDA requirements.
- Collaborate in supporting and enhancing R&D and scale-up processes.
- Maintain comprehensive material and process logs.
- Perform sampling and testing of batched products.
- Transfer batched product to production filling line.
- Perform pre-weighing of batches for upcoming production.
- Clean, sanitize and properly maintain all compounding and related equipment.
- Accurately manage and record chemical inventory in ERP/MRP systems.
- Uphold a clean and safe work environment.
- Wear designated personal protection equipment (PPE) as required.
- Operate sit-down forklifts as needed.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Prior manufacturing work experience.
- Prior compounding experience in a related industry.
- Knowledgeable in production, compounding, and chemical handling/processing, with an understanding of formulation processes.
- Skilled in ensuring the proper blending of chemicals and ingredients to meet product specifications.
Skills and Proficiencies
- Proficient in English language skills: reading, writing, speaking, and comprehension.
- Capable of following directions and adhering to instructions effectively.
- Skilled in understanding and following written standard work protocols.
- Proficient in basic mathematics, including counting, addition, subtraction, and calculator use.
- Exemplary attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Competent in computer usage and proficient in reading scales.
- Physically capable of standing and walking for the majority of an 8-hour shift, with the ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Trained or willing to undergo training for forklift operation.
- Able to prioritize tasks and work with a sense of urgency to meet deadlines.
- Flexible availability for occasional overtime, including Saturdays & Sundays.
