Packaging Machine Operator sets up and operates a packaging machine in accordance with established procedures and guidelines. Fills, secures, and labels containers according to company and/or customer specifications. Being a Packaging Machine Operator verifies goods packaged against package invoices. Reads and interprets blueprints and diagrams to select, position and secure machinery. Additionally, Packaging Machine Operator adjusts machine settings to complete tasks accurately, according to specifications, and in a timely fashion. Documents inventory number and weight, and organizes packages. May make minor repairs to packaging equipment as needed. May have to complete an apprenticeship and/or formal training in area of specialty. Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Packaging Machine Operator works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. Possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. RESPONSIBILITIES :
Work as part of a team in support of a manufacturing operation with a goal of increasing productivity; decreasing downtime and waste.
Receive and follow directions from the Operator and / or Supervisor.
Assist machine operator to set up orders, mount printing and cutting dies, ink adjustments, and ensure quality checks are performed before, during and upon completion of each order.
Inspect machine during run and notify Operator when acceptable parts are not being produced.
Assist in cleanup of equipment.
Follow all company safety rules and lock-out tag-out procedures.
Maintain shop and shop equipment per 5S Standards.
Other duties as assigned.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS :
High School Graduate or GED.
Ability to stack parts up to 30 lbs. for a period of up to 12 hours.
Ability to work overtime and weekends, as needed.
Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES :
Must be willing to work closely on a day-to-day basis with other production personnel.
Ability to share ideas with others to solve problems of essential importance.
