Paralegal assists and supports attorneys with research and document preparation for court proceedings and legal transactions. Utilizes a variety of sources such as statutes, recorded judicial decisions, legal articles, and legal codes to research and analyze legal topics. Being a Paralegal drafts and edits legal documents such as briefs, pleadings, motions, and contracts. Conducts fact-finding, data collection, and analysis used to prepare statements and arguments. Additionally, Paralegal assists attorneys with depositions, interviews, discovery, and investigations. Manages, organizes, and archives documents with software tools and technology. Applies specialized legal terminology appropriately in documents. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically requires Paralegal Certification. Typically reports to an attorney. The Paralegal work is generally independent and collaborative in nature. Contributes to moderately complex aspects of a project. To be a Paralegal typically requires 4 -7 years of related experience. Our office has an opening for paralegals / legal document assistants to work at our office. This is full time position that offers competitive pay and benefits (medical/dental/vision/401K/paid time off/paid holidays).
Background as a paralegal (or legal document assistant) and experience in family law, wills, living trusts, or probate is desirable but not required. The position can be filled at entry, intermediate or advanced level. However, all applicants are encouraged to apply regardless of experience.
Desired qualifications:
- Education in Paralegal Studies - certificate in paralegal studies or higher is required
- Notary Public is desirable but not required
- Excellent Customer Service Skills
- Very Reliable and Trainable
- Serious and Responsible
- Good communication skills
- Experience in any of the areas of family law, wills, living trusts, and/or probate is desirable but not required
- Current notary public or willing to become a notary public
- Bilingual Spanish speaking is desirable.
