Your job in the department is to . . . 

Investigate, supervise, counsel and direct adult offenders consistent with the agency mission, statutory requirements, and the offender conditions of supervision established by releasing authorities. Duties are performed consistent with ORS 137.630.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Substitution Note: A satisfactory combination of education, experience, and/or any of the following: certified law enforcement or two years' experience in a criminal justice setting; or two years' experience in behavioral health, health care, community health or social services field may be substituted for education on a per year basis.  

Certifications

Specifics: Be able to acquire LEDS and CIS certification.            

Driver’s License

Oregon Driver's License required within 30 days of hire

Other Licenses

Specifics: Ability to pass and maintain DPSST Certification and firearms certification

Desirable Qualifications: Prior experience in mental health counseling/therapy and enough education/certifications to perform the essential job functions as determined by the Director.  

WORKING CONDITIONS

Job Conditions: Required to respond to emergency situations after hours, when available. May receive physical injuries when confronted or arresting correctional offenders. Frequents jails and other correctional facilities. Transports parolees and probationers, in county vehicle.  May need to assist with security measures in emergency situations.    May be required to work irregular hours.  Potential high-risk exposure to blood borne pathogens, dog attacks and will have direct contact with adult offenders who may become hostile or abusive.  Work in office setting as well as in the field with exposure to adverse weather conditions.   

Work Location: Lincoln County 

Travel: Travels extensively making residential, employment and other offender related contacts; Travels for training and conferences within the state; use of county vehicle available.  

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

May require physical demands including but not limited to, climbing, and navigating rough terrain, climbing stairs, jumping, running, moving up to 60 pounds; may include apprehending/restraining combative and violent people.  

Physical capability to handle high mobility demands and complex personal interactions.

• Physical Ability: Tasks involve the ability to exert very moderate physical effort in light work, typically involving some combination of stooping, kneeling, crouching and crawling, and which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of moderate weight (12-20 pounds).
• Sensory Requirements: Some tasks require visual perception and discrimination. Some tasks require oral communications ability. Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate sounds.
• Environmental Factors: Tasks are regularly performed with exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as dirt, pollen, odors, wetness, humidity, rain, fumes, temperature and noise extremes, machinery, vibrations, electric currents, traffic hazards, animals/wildlife, toxic/poisonous agents, violence, disease, or pathogenic substances.
