The Payroll Administrator is responsible for the day-to-day activities of the Payroll function. Responsible for timely, accurate and efficient processing of payroll. Facilitates process improvements by streamlining and automating the payroll process. Provides support to the Payroll Manager, Controller, and CFO as needed.
Responsibilities:
- Manage the payroll function providing support and process improvements

Responsible for accurate and timely processing of the bi-weekly payroll

Prepare weekly and monthly reports
- Responsible for payroll compliance, ensuring all legal and statutory payroll-related requirements are met

Participate in the month end accounting closing process which entails preparing payroll and benefit related journal entries

Prepare and file 401K, flexible spending, and other benefit withholdings and deductions

Maintain payroll accounting policies and procedures, update and recommend changes

Participate in financial statement and 401k annual audits

Responsible for annual SUI and worker’s compensation audits

Coordinate and collaborate with Human Resources on matters related to payroll and benefits

Interact with staff on payroll related questions and issues

Provide training for staff on timesheets and other payroll related topics

Other accounting and finance duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Requires a strong working knowledge of general ledger systems, payroll systems, and procedures

Strong Microsoft Excel skills
- Knowledge of multi-state payroll regulatory and tax compliance

Knowledge of corporate accounting policies

Responds well to process-driven instructions

Strong organizational skills, ability to meet deadlines, adapt to changing work priorities in a fast-paced environment, identify and implement process improvements

Ability to resolve issues and propose solutions

Must possess strong interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work in a team environment

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or Business Administration preferred;
- CPP certification preferred

2 years of experience working in a payroll function
- Experience with Paychex payroll service and Vision ERP preferred
