Pharmacy Purchasing Agent jobs in the United States

Primary Responsibilities and Duties:

• Makes sound purchasing decisions based on quality of product, pricing, availability, insurance allowables and inventory turnover
• Develop and maintain relationships with vendors/sales reps to secure best pricing and freight allowances.
• Responsible for entering received items into inventory and bar coding all items
• Responsible for auto ship inventory, assure adequate stock available, adjust inventory levels as needed.
• Track vendor price increases, comparing pricing between vendors to secure lowest possible cost.
• Enter costing into Software, compare to allowable to assure adequate sales margins.
• Prices products in accordance with general standards, General manager when deviating from accepted standards
• Track received invoices for discrepancies in billed amounts, freight charges etc. Note due dates to secure discounts.
• Is responsible for correct HCPC assignment to products
• Is responsible for cost placement into inventory for each item
• Stays current with applicable insurance rules of dispense and reimbursement
• Learns company software for delivery invoice entry, pickup and inventory maintenance
• Maintains retail floor stock in an organized and clean manner and checks inventory levels
• Follows special request orders from intake to dispense
• Acts as resource person for the company in finding new products and locating vend
