PURCHASING AGENT
DESCRIPTION
The Purchasing Agent is a self-starter responsible for sincerely limiting company risk and increasing profit by driving timely, cost-effective and accurate material and equipment buyout, delivery, storage.
RESPONSIBILITIES
· Plan, coordinate, schedule and manage material procurement in collaboration with project management team and field to provide timely material delivery.
· Develop relationships and communicate with manufacturers and vendors to negotiate best pricing and purchase order terms and conditions, delivery and/or storage terms.
· Support Operations (PM and Field) and Vendors / Manufacturers regarding submittals, pricing, deliveries, etc.
· Work in collaboration with Preconstruction, Project Management, and Prefabrication to determine what materials to procure for prefab assemblies, and the timing of such.
· Timely communicate industry wide procurement constraints, material delays and/or back orders with Project management and Senior Management and provide proposed solutions to decrease the impact on current and future projects.
· Analyze and recognize opportunities for bulk buying across projects and present proposals to Senior Management for approval, including negotiation of pricing for commonly used materials with vendors on a quarterly basis.
· Manage changes in material procurement needs in conjunction with Project Management that are a result of pending and approved project changes.
· Timely review and processing of daily field orders.
· Create and maintain a process for field staff to order and receive jobsite materials that is timely, cost effective, and creates accountability in the field for pre-planning.
· Collaborate with accounting to ensure efficient purchasing processes and automate date entry, where possible, within company software.
· Collaborate with estimating and project management to create and maintain Mark One preferred vendors list.

QUALIFICATIONS
· Education: Bachelor’s Degree in one of the following fields: Construction Management, Project Management, or another related field.
· Experience: Minimum 5 years’ experience in the electrical field, including knowledge of electrical materials and pricing.
· Experience: Minimum 3 years’ experience with purchasing software
