Phlebotomist draws and collects blood samples from patients, verifies records and prepares specimens for laboratory analysis. May prick finger to draw blood. Being a Phlebotomist may conduct interviews, take vital signs, and draw and test blood samples to screen donors at blood bank. Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Additionally, Phlebotomist requires Certification by a nationally recognized body. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. Phlebotomist's years of experience requirement may be unspecified. Primary Responsibilities
Assist in determining the suitability of donors.
You establish rapport with donors to ensure overall customer happiness while ensuring donor confidentiality.
You respond to and assist with handling donor reactions.
Monitors donor and equipment to ensure health of donors and quality of product.
Sets up, disconnects, and operates the automated plasmapheresis machines.
Disconnects and disposes of all contaminated disposable equipment.
