Physician Assistant - Surgical jobs in Minnesota
Physician Assistant - Surgical under the direction of physician, performs first assistant surgical duties, including tissue retraction and suturing. Completes pre-op tasks including physical examinations and recording health history. Being a Physician Assistant - Surgical orders appropriate laboratory and radiographic tests. Participates in daily patient rounds, writes progress notes, conducts patient education, writes prescriptions, and prepares discharge summaries Requires completion of the PANCE exam administered by National Commission of the Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA). Additionally, Physician Assistant - Surgical requires a master's degree of Health Sciences for Physician Assistants or related. Typically reports to a physician. Requires Certified Physician Assistant (PA-C). Requires State license to practice. Physician Assistant - Surgical's years of experience requirement may be unspecified. Physicians provide comprehensive care for the appropriate patient population including diagnosing and treating a wide variety of illnesses that can occur in any of the body systems. Physicians use a variety of diagnostic and therapeutic techniques to treat patients through medication and hospitalization. Responsible for meeting, assessing and diagnosing patients and providing them with healthcare services that embody the St. Luke’s mission, The Patient Above All Else. Prescribes patients with appropriate procedures, medication, health regimens and lifestyle adjustments that will contribute to their recovery from diagnosed health issues, prevent future health issues and promote a healthier life.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school.Experience: Completion of accredited residency program and fellowship program.Licensure/Certification/Registration: Current or pending license in Minnesota and/or WI to practice as Physician. Current Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) and Department of Public Safety (DPS) registration for prescription writing in Minnesota and/or Wisconsin. Board eligible or Board certified in the appropriate specialty.

Knowledge of current principles and techniques of physician practice. Ability to function as a team leader, primary provider and role model; to accept individual responsibility and accountability for decisions and outcome; to communicate effectively with patients, families, personnel and other Physicians and establish professional working relationships with the same. To recognize the legal limits of physician practice; to maintain professional competency through continuing education and independent study. Ability to support St. Luke’s goals and objectives.READING - Advanced: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquires or complaints.WRITING - Intermediate: Ability to write routine reports, correspondence, or procedures.SPEAKING – Intermediate: Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one, small group situations or before groups of customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.MATHEMATICAL SKILLS - Advanced: Ability to comprehend and apply advanced mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plan and solid geometry and trigonometry. There is also potential for a robust elective general surgery practice including two Xi Da Vinci robots. This surgery team consists of skilled, well-respected and seasoned surgeons and physician assistants. Enjoy a collegial atmosphere at this American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma verified Level 2 Trauma Center, with on-site subspecialty care. Plenty of opportunity to grow your elective practice with a large hospital-employed team of referring providers and adequate operative time both in the inpatient and outpatient settings. Call is dedicated to a single hospital and averages every 7th day. Critical care coverage shared with other intensivists. Convenient access to hospital, clinic and outpatient surgery center which are all on campus and connected via skywalk.
This opportunity is open to a board-certified/board-eligible surgeon with fellowship training in surgical critical care. Compensation and incentive package is very competitive, comprehensive benefits including a relocation stipend. Leadership opportunities exist for interested candidates.
