Physician Assistant - Surgical jobs in South Dakota
Physician Assistant - Surgical under the direction of physician, performs first assistant surgical duties, including tissue retraction and suturing. Completes pre-op tasks including physical examinations and recording health history. Being a Physician Assistant - Surgical orders appropriate laboratory and radiographic tests. Participates in daily patient rounds, writes progress notes, conducts patient education, writes prescriptions, and prepares discharge summaries Requires completion of the PANCE exam administered by National Commission of the Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA). Additionally, Physician Assistant - Surgical requires a master's degree of Health Sciences for Physician Assistants or related. Typically reports to a physician. Requires Certified Physician Assistant (PA-C). Requires State license to practice. Physician Assistant - Surgical's years of experience requirement may be unspecified. Surgical Institute of South Dakota, PC, a ten physician general surgery group in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, is seeking a full time Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner to assist our physicians in support of the Trauma and Acute Surgical Coverage Services Program at Avera McKennan Hospital.
This position is responsible for coordinating and providing care to patients admitted to the trauma and acute surgical service at Avera McKennan Hospital, providing consultative and postoperative general surgery care to patients while working in tandem with the group's on-call Physician. This position will be assigned rotating shifts which include days, evenings and weekends.
Candidates for this position must possess a minimum of two years experience in a Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner role within a surgical specialty and be able to work independently. Certification and licensure or eligibility for licensure in the state of South Dakota is required.
