Summary
The Histology Technician will perform the various tasks required for
receiving, processing, and preparing patient tissue specimens for microscopic
examination and analysis by the Pathologist. This may include logging, batching,
and cutting, mounting, and staining procedures.
Job Responsibilities- Perform gross pathology on skin specimens including gross description,
sections and preparation of tissue blocks.- Demonstrate knowledge of and proficiency in routine staining procedures
maintain required reagents.- Produce high quality microscope slides following standard operating
- Complete assigned tasks and daily workload; set priorities for achieving
- Assist others in completing required tasks.
- Demonstrate proficiency in the use and maintenance of appropriate
- Maintain log forms, schedules and records of workload/caseload.
- Maintain work area and equipment for optimal performance and safety.
- Recognize problems (e.g., stain deviations, equipment malfunction, unusual
necessary.- Consistently perform job accurately and timely.
- Must follow all rules, safety standards, policies and procedures.
- Candidates must be HT or HTL (ASCP) certified with 2 yrs. experience in
- Prior experience in medical office.
- Self-motivated to achieve the highest patient care and customer service
- Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding (preferred).
- Thorough understanding of HIPAA law
