Position Summary:
The Senior Accountant is responsible for compiling, reporting and analyzing accounts payable, accounts receivable, and assists in the closing of the accounting month. The goal is to make financial information accurate, accessible, and understandable.
Principle Duties:
Accounts Receivable:
- Process cash receipts accurately and timely
- Maintain customer accounts accurately for invoicing credits and payments
- Maintain AR aging – Working with Credit & Collections and Customer Care on customer account issues.
- Post AR invoice transfers
- Assures timely, accurate processing of A/R
Accounts Payable
- Daily processing of A/P invoices; verifying price, quantity and terms to the receiver and purchase order.
- Problem invoices are reviewed with purchasing and/or Plant Controller
- Daily data entry of invoices into Traverse
- Weekly AP forecast
- Ensure all discounts are taken on invoices according to plan
- Compile checks processed with invoices for signature
- Maintain open invoice and paid invoice files
- Assist Controller with sales and use tax calculations
- Maintain requested files for month end accounts (Cap Ex., Customer Reimbursed and Professional Fees)
- Other project-based work
- Audit the accuracy of the annual physical inventory and reported results. Investigate and explain book to physical adjustments
- Reconcile all prescribed general ledger accounts monthly and submit to the corporate controller.
Month End Closing & Audit:
- Assist Controller with maintaining monthly Capital expenditure reports
- Assist Controller in performing various accounting procedures, including but not limited to balance sheet reconciliation, reports, and journal entries.
- Assist in month end reporting – Customer sales analysis.
- Assist Controller in end of month reporting
- Assist Controller with budget variance reporting
- Assist Controller with yearend audit
- Prepare, analyze, and accurately report current month’s financial results to the sites and corporate management in accordance with corporate format and time requirements
- Prepare quarterly forecasts, annual operating plan, strategic planning and prepare for year-end audit
- Responsible for internal controls for finance and consults with the corporate controller as necessary
Other:
- Assist with Inventory as needed
- Maintains organization for all accounting and financial files
- Performs any other function or responsibility as assigned
- Assist Controller in processing temporary labor cost
- Fosters and maintains a safe and healthy work environment by following and enforcing standards and procedures.
- Communicate, coach, mentor, and motivate people around vision, values, and strategy; delegate ‘ownership’ of projects to individuals and teams.

- Identify/coordinate training needs for employees, as required
Required Qualifications/Skills:
- Associates in Accounting or Business Administration or commensurate experience in a related, bachelor’s degree in accounting preferred
- 2-4 years in accounting experience with manufacturing preferred
- Strong written and verbal communications skills

- Sound planning and organizational skills
- High level of proficiency in Excel
