Plant Manager directs a plant or production facility's overall operations. Sets and implements policies and procedures that guide plant operations' productivity, quality, and cost efficiency. Being a Plant Manager utilizes operational metrics to analyze productivity and set performance targets to achieve production goals. Develops and deploys manufacturing practices focused on quality and continuous improvement. Additionally, Plant Manager develops and implements plant safety and security inspections, auditing, and training procedures to meet OSHA and other required regulations. Collaborates with multi-functional plant teams, including finance, engineering, materials, quality assurance, and human resources. Leads or participates in labor relations negotiations and engages with union leadership involving plant operations. Typically requires a bachelor's degree in manufacturing engineering or equivalent. Typically reports to senior management. The Plant Manager manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be a Plant Manager typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.     ABOUT THE JOB

    The Plant Manager is responsible for the P&L of the plant, directing and coordinating the business for the daily operations. Plant managers oversee employees, production, supply chain engineering, maintenance, and quality control to make sure the plant is running smoothly, quickly, efficiently, and safely. Plant manager is/will be an active member of the Safety Committee and works closely with Regional EHS to comply with safety, monitor the quality of the production equipment and repairs or replace the equipment when needed. Plant Manager will use Lean Manufacturing concepts to drive continuous improvement in operations.


    MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Ensure the achievement of the Plant's revenue and gross margin targets and function as the P&L Owner of the Plant.
    • Works closely with other regional functions to prepare and present Annual AOP to the Regional GM for final discussion and approval from the Board of Directors.
    • Ensure the achievement of periodic operational objectives (daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, yearly) on Time Delivery, Waste, Efficiency, rework, Quality, etc. relating to the Plant.
    • Identifies the organizational and operational structures needed for the implementation of the strategic and development lines of the Plant through the coordination of the operating units.
    • Ensures the definition of the operational guidelines of the Plant for the development of its reference business, in concert with the Operational excellence and Quality Assurance and Regulatory Affairs functions of the region.
    • Working closely with regional Operational excellence and QA/RA propose, lead, and put in place actions and projects to guarantee continuous improvement to maximize the plant performance and to make sure that Integrated Supply chain solutions customers’ project are performed on time and in the most efficient way.
    • Working closely with regional Operational excellence, lead and implement Lean manufacturing through all the processes to maximize the efficiency of the plant.
    • Ensure analyzes and evaluations of operational and market trends affecting the Plant.
    • Ensure the definition of the actions needed for the implementation of new operational/organizational solutions and the consequent adaptation of the current plant processes/activities to the new proposed standards.
    • Ensure the management, monitoring and control of the various operational activities for the purpose of achieving the business objectives set out in the annual and multi-year business plans.
    • Ensure the correct management of the New Product Introduction cycle within the assigned Plant Guarantee, in collaboration with the competent functions of the reference region and the Division, the correct completion of the qualification process of new products/processes.
    • Ensures, in close collaboration with the Plant controller, the economic analysis of the income statement items and correlates them with operations, evaluating the profitability of the products managed in the plant and to ensure that profit is optimized.
    • Build trust with the assigned team and work closely with Human Resources to recruit and develop plant personnel Monitors operations and quality KPIs and proposes corrective actions to improve performance in concert with the relevant regional functions.
    • Responsible for implementing and monitoring security policies and procedures at the facility.
    • Responsible for the Production, Engineering, Maintenance, Quality Control, Purchasing, Safety and Customer Service functions at the plant level Study and implement solutions to increase production, resource capacity and flexibility while minimizing unnecessary costs and maintaining current quality standards.
    • Allocate resources effectively and make full use of resources to produce optimal results.
    • Develop systems and processes that monitor and optimize productivity and standards, following lean manufacturing processes and performance metrics and targets to ensure an adequate level of site performance and a return on investment made, also within the framework of the guidelines of the Regional Operations function and Quality.
    • Collect and analyze data to find areas of waste or optimization.
    • Ensure the implementation of the company's quality, safety, and human resource management system guidelines in accordance with its procedures and requirements and in accordance with global divisional and group guidelines.


    EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Materials Science Engineering, or equivalent field of study. Equivalent years of experience will be considered in exchange of formal education.
    • Master’s degree in relevant field of study, preferred.
    • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in Operations Management in contract manufacturing for Medical Devices OEMs.
    • Minimum of 5 years of Plant management
    • A successful track record of achieving growth and profitability targets in manufacturing operations, including reducing direct/indirect costs while increasing operational efficiency, productivity, and quality.
    • Strong financial acumen, namely with regards to the ability to: analyze operating reports to identify opportunities for cost reduction and efficiency improvement; the ability to summarize monthly operating results and future plans with executive teams and others; collaborate with supply chain for maximum cost reduction; write and justify capital requests.
    • Extensive experience with manufacturing process improvement, including strict budget management, facility enhancement, Total Cycle Time reduction principles, lead time reduction, workflow enhancements and capacity management planning.
    • Experience, education, and application of manufacturing practices such as Lean, Six Sigma, Total Productive Maintenance, NPI / APQP, and ISO standards are required.
    • Thermal spray experience is strongly preferred.
    • Experience with ERP systems required. Implementation experience is preferred.
    • Must be able to read, analyze and interpret blueprints and specifications. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, plans, blueprints, schematics, and technical data. Ability to interpret and write technical procedures and documents.
    • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Microsoft Project.
    • Strong knowledge of both metric and US measurement systems.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT:

    This job operates in both an office environment and a manufacturing environment. The role routinely uses standard office equipment, such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. The individual will be required to adhere to safety policies and procedures on the manufacturing floor.


    PHYSICAL DEMAND:

    Limited physical demand may be needed. Physical demands will involve standing, walking, and occasionally moving or lifting material.


    POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK:

    This is a full-time position, with business core hours of Monday through Friday 8am to 5pm. As an exempt employee, you will be required to work additional hours to support business demands.


    TRAVEL:

    Occasional overseas and domestic travel may be required to support the rapid growth of the company.
