Plant Manager directs a plant or production facility's overall operations. Sets and implements policies and procedures that guide plant operations' productivity, quality, and cost efficiency. Being a Plant Manager utilizes operational metrics to analyze productivity and set performance targets to achieve production goals. Develops and deploys manufacturing practices focused on quality and continuous improvement. Additionally, Plant Manager develops and implements plant safety and security inspections, auditing, and training procedures to meet OSHA and other required regulations. Collaborates with multi-functional plant teams, including finance, engineering, materials, quality assurance, and human resources. Leads or participates in labor relations negotiations and engages with union leadership involving plant operations. Typically requires a bachelor's degree in manufacturing engineering or equivalent. Typically reports to senior management. The Plant Manager manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be a Plant Manager typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.     Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Lead the Plant supervisors in their daily standard work.
    • Drive continuous improvement throughout the facility.
    • Select, train, assign, schedule, coach, counsel, and discipline employees.
    • Communicate job expectations; planning, monitoring, appraising, and reviewing job contributions.
    • Contribute operations information and recommendations to strategic plans and reviews.
    • Prepare and complete action plans; implement production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards.
    • Resolve problems; complete audits; identify trends.
    • Develop operations systems by determining product handling and storage requirements.
    • Develop, implement, enforce, and evaluate policies and procedures.
    • Analyze process workflow, employee and space requirements, and equipment layout; implement changes.
    • Maintain a safe and healthy work environment.
    • Establish, follow, and enforce standards and procedures; comply with legal regulations.
    • Accomplish operations and organization mission by completing related results as needed.
    • Meet or exceed operations labor budget expectations.
    • Manage staff levels.
    • Responsible for all department supervisors.
    • Run a safe, injury/accident-free workplace.
    • Work closely with the management team to set and/or implement policies, procedures, and systems.
    • Follow through with implementation.
    • Communicate all operating policies and/or issues at department meetings.
    • Work closely with the inventory/planning leader and team to perform an analysis of our inventory.
    • Ensure effective utilization of inventory, purchase the right equipment, and maintain solid inventory data.
    • Reduce rental expenses.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelors degree in Engineering, Industrial Management, Business Administration, or related field.
    • Minimum 7 years of plant supervisory/operations manager experience.
    • Excellent leadership, team-building, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
    • Excellent interpersonal and supervisory skills.
    • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines, while delivering projects within budget; results oriented.
    • Strong analytical, and problem-solving skills, and demonstrated initiative.
    • Proven ability to build relationships, communicate effectively, and present ideas confidently and persuasively.
    • Strong computer skills that include proficiency with MS Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint) and familiarity with ERP such as JD Edwards.
    • Ability to read, write, and speak English; bilingual in Spanish preferred.
    • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20-25 pounds.
    • May require more than 40 hours per week to perform the essential duties of the position.
