Plant Operations Manager oversees the daily operational activities of a plant or production facility. Develops and manages production schedules to meet internal volume, cost, and quality goals. Being a Plant Operations Manager utilizes operational metrics to analyze productivity, identify issues, and set performance targets to achieve production goals. Implements plant safety and security inspections, auditing, and training procedures to meet OSHA and other required regulations. Additionally, Plant Operations Manager oversees staffing and development of all production supervisors and staff and facilitates labor relations. Typically requires a bachelor's degree in manufacturing engineering or equivalent. Typically reports to a director. The Plant Operations Manager typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Plant Operations Manager typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments. In a job-shop environment, our clients require us to deliver quality parts on time from all of our metal finishing operations. We are looking for Plant Manager.


    Responsibilities:

    • Provide production employees with guidance, direction, and supervision to support departmental operations and goals.
    • Manage the backlog, on-time delivery, and employee schedules.
    • Track hourly rates daily and report to the GM and Estimating Manager any jobs not making rate.
    • Maintain a weekly Labor/ Sales ratio as per budget.
    • Promptly address performance issues.
    • Actively promote all company policies and expectations, especially in support of safety plans and results.
    • Maintain a safe and positive work environment by regularly communicating with employees on the floor and responding to employee issues and concerns promptly.
    • Maintain well-organized and productive work areas utilizing 5S/Lean initiatives.
    • Ensure equipment is always kept in peak operating conditions via integration with the maintenance department.
    • Ensure that WWT system is operating as intended & waste generated is removed from the facility as per regulatory requirements.
    • Ensure tank chemistries are properly maintained.
    • Immediately respond to any equipment, people, or building issues when needed.
    • Make recommendations for improvements in our facility and equipment that will allow us to continually improve our company and the environment we work in.
    • Continually investigate and recommend improvements of any kind to ensure that all areas of the facility are safe and secure.
    • Focus on the reduction of direct labor costs as a percent of sales as it’s of paramount importance including the installation of automated processes, procedures, and elimination of direct labor.
    • Answer customer calls and inquiries when applicable.
    • Assist with quotes, samples, and whatever is needed to support the sales process.
    • Work with customers and management to address concerns and provide solutions.
    • All other duties, as assigned.

    Qualifications:

    • 3 years relevant experience in a manufacturing or job shop environment
    • Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred but not required
    • Proven managerial experience with strong team building, decision-making, and people management skills
    • Computer literacy
    • BS degree in Business Management, Engineering, or relevant field preferred but not required
    • Willingness to take on responsibilities and challenges
    • The ability to read and write in English
    • The ability to work with a diverse culture to help ways to improve processes, quality, and safety
