Police Sergeant is responsible for supervising patrol officers and agents as assigned and maintaining the chain of command within the operations of the department.     Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 grade level in the Federal service which includes:
    (1) Enforcing basic laws and regulations, law enforcement operations, practices, and techniques which involve responsibility for maintaining order and protecting life and property; AND
    (2) Enforcing a wide range of law enforcement activities such as traffic codes and procedures; and
    (3) Producing police reports.

    This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone - no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
