Policy Change Director manages all aspects of insurance policy changes according to company guidelines. Designs and implements procedures used for expediting policy changes and the calculations used to determine associated costs. Being a Policy Change Director develops, implements, and communicates policies and practices concerning policy changes and related costs. Requires a bachelor's degree. Additionally, Policy Change Director typically reports to top management. The Policy Change Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. To be a Policy Change Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience.     Major Functions

    This position directs NMCC’s government affairs and public policy efforts. This position is responsible for developing and driving efforts related to the development and execution of NMCC’s public policy agenda and priorities.

    Major Duties and Responsibilities

    · Legislative Session

    o Track and analyze proposed legislation

    o Develop and distribute position papers

    o Draft member public policy updates during session

    o Manage call to action and member alerts as needed

    o Coordinate member visits with legislators and other officials

    o Attend and testify during committee meetings

    o Participate in special events

    o Respond to information requests from legislators and other officials

    o Coordinate efforts with partner associations and industry groups

    · Attend and participate in interim committee meetings

    · Create and distribute NMCC communications to elected officials and membership

    · Provide reports on interim committees

    · Coordinate and participate in NMCC policy committees

    · Develop NMCC’s legislative priorities and agenda

    · Assist in development of NMCC’s annual FOCUS Report

    · Attend other meetings on behalf of the Chamber

    · Participate in boards and task forces on behalf of the Chamber

    · Supervise and lead advocacy efforts during election year

    · Assist with planning and implementation of NMCC’s Spring and Fall Policy Summit

    · Coordinate participation of legislators and the executive branch in various NMCC events

    · Assist in membership recruitment and retention efforts as they relate to the value of policy advocacy

    · Assist in drafting policy updates for the member newsletter throughout the year

    · Support NMCC programs and events as necessary

    Working Relationships

    · Internal — Interacts with other NMCC staff to accomplish tasks.

    · External — Interacts with chamber members, associations, legislators, other government staff through meetings, events and via telephone and email.

    Minimum Work Requirements

    Minimum Qualifications

    · Self-driven, detail-oriented, able to work with minimal supervision

    · Strong written and verbal communication skills a must

    · Able to handle multiple tasks

    · Two or more years’ experience lobbying or working in a legislative body at the local, state or federal level

    · Ability to work in a rapidly changing environment

    · Ability to work under and meet tight deadlines

    Preferred Qualifications

    · Bachelor’s degree or related job experience.

    · Legislative or regulatory work experience

    · Economic development experience

    · Experience working in a membership association or chamber of commerce

    · Political campaign experience

    Physical Demands

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. The employee must be able to operate specific office equipment and must be able to move about the work environment. The employee must frequently move or re-position up to 10 pounds, occasionally, 35 pounds. Specific vision abilities include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.

    Work Environment

    Essential duties are performed indoors under normal controlled temperature conditions. Work surface is even, carpeted, tiled and/or a concrete floor.

    Pay: $60,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
