Precision Grinder operates precision grinding machines to assemble products and product parts to established blueprint and engineering specifications. Selects, mounts, attaches and calibrates a variety of attachments and grinding machines for grinding angles, contours, lines, and spheres on to surfaces. Being a Precision Grinder requires a high school diploma. Typically reports to a manager. The Precision Grinder works independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function. Has gained proficiency in multiple competencies relevant to the job. Precision Grinders are highly skilled employees responsible for grinding tools and specialized parts used on manufacturing machines. The work requires practical skill and knowledge as a Surface Grinder and OD Grinder to analyze specifications, lay out metal stock, set up and operate machine tools. The work may require interpreting specifications, blueprints, manufacturers' manuals, sketches or similar documents. The candidate must have excellent communication skills and the ability to problem solve. Candidate must be able to perform incidental tasks as required to complete the larger task.
