Production Maintenance Manager manages maintenance and repair services for complex electrical and mechanical production equipment and systems. Develops and implements standard procedures to monitor equipment for performance, safety, and effectiveness. Being a Production Maintenance Manager coordinates troubleshooting and solutions for equipment repairs. Makes recommendations for equipment enhancements or improvements. Additionally, Production Maintenance Manager prepares technical reports to document equipment modifications and equipment maintenance procedures. Plans and schedules maintenance workers, materials, and activities to complete work orders with minimal downtime, adhering to safety requirements and regulations. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Production Maintenance Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Production Maintenance Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     This is a full-time, seasonal position with a start date of ASAP and an end date of September, 2024.


    OVERVIEW/PURPOSE

    Circle Seafoods purchases and freezes fresh caught salmon from a fishing fleet on site. The Production Manager is responsible for overseeing all primary processing operations at the Metlakatla, AK Plant for the 2024 Summer Salmon Season with opportunity to grow with an emerging company.


    Essential Functions

    To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily

    • Planning and scheduling all production activities in advance
    • Train, supervise, and coach all production employees.
    • Manage performance issues and participate in disciplinary actions as necessary.
    • Works hands-on with a regular floor presence, supervising by example.
    • Has extensive experience in all aspects of production including but not limited to,freezing and packing Salmon.
    • Constantly promotes seafood product quality with processing employees.
    • Creates efficiencies in costs and operations
    • Ensures all seafood is handled and processed in accordance with the highest quality standards.
    • Participates in government inspections and ensures any concerns are addressed promptly.
    • Directs the production supervisor and leads in the layout and arrangement of work processes throughout the plant. Being sure all processes are being monitored consistently for quality, accuracy and efficiency.
    • Keep daily production records.
    • Participate in managers meetings and conduct production staff meetings.
    • Communicates and collaborates with the operations manager and other managers/supervisors.


    Physical Demands:

    • Regular exposure to weather and a plant environment.
    • Regular exposure to freezer temperatures.
    • Occasional lifting of 50-100 lb. boxes.
    • Able to walk stairs.


    Required Educational Experience:

    • High School Diploma or GED required.
    • College education is desirable but not required.
    • Minimum 3-5 years of Alaska seafood industry experience,
    • Plant management experience required.
    • Experience with online inventory systems desired.
    • Must have good decision-making ability.
    • Strong leadership and motivational skills needed.
    • HACCP experience required.


    Other Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

    • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written.
    • Ability to prioritize and organize tasks.
    • Thorough knowledge of the seafood industry, processing rules and regulations.


    Compensation:

    This is an hourly position that is eligible for overtime pay. Overtime is 1.5 times the regular hourly rate. Extensive overtime is frequently offered/required with total work days up to 16 hours. At times throughout the season we will be operating and working 7 days a week, workdays vary Sunday through Saturday. Workdays and shift times will vary with seafood deliveries and other factors
