    Summary

    The School of Film at University of the Arts is establishing a pool of applicants for part time/adjunct instructor positions for the 2024/25 academic year and beyond to teach undergraduate courses on campus in Center City, Philadelphia.

    The School of Film is seeking active and accomplished screenwriters, filmmakers, producers, directors, sound designers, editors, production designers, art directors, animators, game artists, scholars and theorists with a desire to educate the next generation and work with a diverse undergraduate student population.

    This pool of applicants would be drawn upon to provide special teaching expertise in the areas of screenwriting, narrative and documentary film production, post production, cinematography, film and television history, film and media studies, animation, and game art.

    The University is particularly interested in reviewing candidates whose identities and/or professional work intersect with or address historically marginalized communities, and encourages applicants from diverse backgrounds to apply.

    Essential Duties & Responsibilities

    Part time faculty are expected to:

    • Lead and manage the development of the syllabus and weekly class lectures, demonstrations, materials, and activities, and to be open to collaboration with colleagues and the program director on all as needed
    • Utilize the University’s learning management system, Canvas, for student communications, attendance and grading, including posting clearly designed assignment descriptions and deadlines
    • Teach the fifteen weekly class meetings per semester in-person
    • Center the stated class learning goals as the directive in all activities and instruction
    • Provide students regular, class wide and individual critique and guidance
    • Utilize available technology to create a more inclusive and flexible classroom
    • Be available outside of class for timely communication with students and colleagues, and provide office hours in person or remotely by appointment

    Education

    • Advanced degree in a related field and/or bachelor’s degree in a related field with significant professional/personal practice experience

    Minimum Salary

    • $1,275 per credit is the minimum however salary rates are – commensurate with professional and academic experience
