Professor - Mathematics teaches courses in the discipline area of mathematics and statistics. Develops and designs curriculum plans to foster student learning, stimulate class discussions, and ensures student engagement. Being a Professor - Mathematics provides tutoring and academic counseling to students, maintains classes related records, and assesses student coursework. Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Professor - Mathematics typically reports to a department head. Requires a PhD or terminal degree appropriate to the field. Has considerable experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels and initiates research and case studies in field of interest and may publish findings in trade journals or textbooks. Provides intellectual leadership and has made significant contributions to the field. May offer independent study opportunities and mentoring to students. Assistant Professor - Mathematics

  • The Department of Mathematics  within the College of Arts and Sciences at Creighton University is hiring for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor to teach both foundational mathematics and statistics courses and advanced courses in their sub-discipline while developing an active, independent research program involving undergraduates in the Department of Mathematics at Creighton University. 

     

    This position is a tenure-track assistant professor appointment beginning in August 2024. A Ph.D. in Mathematics or Statistics (or a closely related field) is required. The ideal person for this role is committed to being an outstanding teacher-scholar within a primarily undergraduate institution. 

     

    Qualifications 

    • A Ph.D. in Mathematics or Statistics (or a closely related field) is required. 
    • Ability to foster student learning, development, and decision making in support of their goals, success, wellness, and needs. 
    • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to develop rapport quickly and effectively with a diversity of populations. 
    • Empathy and compassion for the experiences of others.
