Requires a PhD or terminal degree appropriate to the field. Has considerable experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels and initiates research and case studies in field of interest and may publish findings in trade journals or textbooks. Provides intellectual leadership and has made significant contributions to the field. May offer independent study opportunities and mentoring to students.     The Susan S. Morrison School of Nursing (SON) in the Morrison Family College of Health at the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota, invites applicants for a tenure-track assistant professor position. We seek applicants who are committed to teaching excellence, both within a traditional BSN and accelerated pre-licensure MSN program. The successful applicant will teach a range of nursing courses, however current needs prioritize subject matter expertise in the following areas: pathophysiology, pharmacology, acute and chronic care, and health assessment. In addition, applicants will advise nursing students and participate in service activities in the school, college, and university. The standard teaching load for this position is six courses in an academic year and all areas of nursing research/scholarship will be considered. We seek candidates who are committed to fostering inclusive learning environments, interested in working as part of an interprofessional college team, and eager to develop a scholarly agenda that engages students in meaningful ways.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Minimum Qualifications: 

     

    • PhD (U.S. or Foreign Equivalent) in Nursing or closely related field, Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) (U.S. or Foreign Equivalent); alternatively, ABD will also be considered.
    • Alternatively, a candidate with an EdD, PhD in an area unrelated to Nursing is acceptable if the candidate holds a bachelor's or master/s degree (U.S. or foreign equivalent) in Nursing. 
    • Must be eligible for RN licensure in the state of Minnesota. 
    • Prior teaching experience in a higher education setting or as a clinical educator within an acute care setting.
