    Position Summary:

    Capitol Technology University, a nonprofit university located in Laurel, Maryland, seeks a dedicated and dynamic individual to join our faculty as an Adjunct Professor in Mathematics and Physics, starting in Fall 2024. The ideal candidate will have a passion for teaching a range of undergraduate courses related to mathematics and physics, with a preference for also teaching Introduction to Chemistry. This position requires teaching in person at our university campus.

    Position Qualifications:

    • A Master's or Doctorate degree in Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field.
    • Successful record in education and professional service.
    • Demonstrated leadership in education and professional service.
    • Ability to develop and deliver comprehensive course materials that align with the university's curriculum and standards.
    • Commitment to diversity among students, faculty, and staff.
    • College-level teaching experience preferred.
    • Teaching experience in the fields of Mathematics and Physics.
    • Must be able to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
    • Willingness to teach in person during both day and evening hours.
    • Stay current with developments and advancements in the fields of Mathematics and Physics to ensure that course content is up-to-date and relevant.
    • Capable of teaching courses in Mathematics, Physics, and Introduction to Chemistry.

    List of Essential Duties:

    • Manage and facilitate class activities, adhering to and meeting all established university policies.
    • Adhere to university guidelines and standards for in-person, online, and hybrid learning.
    • Respond to invitations to make recommendations to the Chair and Dean regarding the selection of textbooks or other required texts relevant to the adjunct faculty member's academic discipline and teaching assignment.
    • Submit final grades no later than 48 hours after the conclusion of the last day of class; remain available to students during the week following the posting of final grades.
    • Participate in student learning outcomes assessment related to the adjunct's teaching assignment as directed by the Chair and Dean.
    • Adhere to all established university absence and attendance policies, guidelines, and requirements.
    • Complete related projects and duties as assigned.
    • Maintain office hours to assist students with coursework, projects, and academic inquiries.
