Professor - Social Work teaches courses in the discipline area of social work. Develops and designs curriculum plans to foster student learning, stimulate class discussions, and ensures student engagement. Being a Professor - Social Work provides tutoring and academic counseling to students, maintains classes related records, and assesses student coursework. Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Professor - Social Work typically reports to a department head. Requires a PhD or terminal degree appropriate to the field. Has considerable experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels and initiates research and case studies in field of interest and may publish findings in trade journals or textbooks. Provides intellectual leadership and has made significant contributions to the field. May offer independent study opportunities and mentoring to students.   • The Social Work Department of Capital University invites applications for tenure-track, Assistant Professor position. This position is a full-time appointment within Social Work with an anticipated start date August of 2024.


    A Ph.D. in Social Work or Social Welfare with an MSW from a CSWE accredited program is preferred. Special consideration will be given to candidates with some experience in using innovative instructional technologies, distance, hybrid education, and curriculum development at the Master of Social Work level. Candidates should have experience practicing in a macro setting, strong graduate teaching skills, and be committed to course development, scholarship, symposia presentations, and university/community service. Advanced credential/licensing or eligibility, in Social Work, is strongly preferred.
