Has considerable experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels and initiates research and case studies in field of interest and may publish findings in trade journals or textbooks. Provides intellectual leadership and has made significant contributions to the field. May offer independent study opportunities and mentoring to students.     Position Overview: Contracted Faculty of Practice (Adjunct) - College of Human Services & Behavioral Sciences; Criminal Justice Department - specifically in the Sociology Program. This position is an adjunct teaching role that will deliver courses both online and in-person.

    The Sociology Program's mission is to develop students' understanding of modern societies to create meaningful and rewarding futures for our students in the employment market that is constantly evolving. This is accomplished through education, high impact community engagement, and experiential learning whilst developing transferable skills such as research, practical and impactful communication through writing and oral presentations, inclusivity, and leadership.
     
    *Face-to-Face Modality*

    Essential Duties:
    • Teaching morning/day/evening courses in a face-to-face. The specific course and delivery will be negotiated with the instructor candidate, depending on the semester class offering schedules.
    • Contract Faculty of Practice (CFP) instructors prepare and deliver lectures, are prompt and timely in responding, evaluating, grading students, and entering grades. Course topics include minority and cultural relations, research measurement and data, and social relations to undergraduate students in the Sociology Program. The CFP will bring their expertise, experience, insight, and teaching charisma into the course to provide a deeper understanding and real-world application of the material being delivered.
    • The Teaching capacity ranges between 4-12 credits per semester, which is essentially one to three courses (Fall, Summer, and Spring) depending on class offering schedules.
     Education and Experience:
    • Master's Degree in social/human services: Required
    • MSW: Preferred 
    • At least 5 years of practical experience in the social/human services field: Required
    • Demonstration: Applicants should provide examples of how their specialties will complement existing strengths in the Sociology Department.
    • Must be organized, able to meet deadlines, and have excellent interpersonal skills
    • Teaching experience in either online, face-to-face, or blended modalities: Preferred
    • 5 or more years of professional social/human services related experience: Preferred
