  • A Deputy Clerk for the Lorain County Clerk of Courts, performs the following essential functions:

    1. Assists the general public and business representatives in the processing and issuance of certificates of title for motor vehicles and watercraft; processes titles and verifies authenticity, accuracy, and completeness of information contained therein; enters and retrieves information into computer system to generate new titles; certifies documents; and acknowledges signatures as necessary.

    2. Assists the general public and business representatives in the processing and issuance of Limited Authority Deputy Registrar transactions and ODNR watercraft registrations; processes registrations, issues temporary tags, and verifies authenticity, accuracy, and completeness of information contained therein; enters and retrieves information into computer system to generate new registrations; certifies documents; and acknowledges signatures as necessary.

    3.Assists the general public in applying to the federal government for United States passport books and cards; processes applications, and verifies the accuracy and completeness of the information contained therein; certifies documents; and acknowledges signatures as necessary.

    4. Calculates and collects taxes, fees, and costs associated with the processing and issuance of all Title Division-related documentation; receives payments, records transactions and issues change where appropriate; balances receipts and submits a daily accounting report of drawer status (e.g., over, short, accurate) in conjunction with the cashier monitor; assumes sole responsibility for all monies collected, disbursed, and drawer accuracy.

    5. Receives and responds to customer inquiries and questions regarding title office operations and procedures; provides information to the public concerning title, LADR, watercraft registration and passport operations, procedures, and issuance; courteously receives any complaints or concerns from the public and directs the issue to the appropriate manager for resolution.

    6. Performs other miscellaneous clerical and administrative duties associated with Title Office operations (e.g. files documents, scans title-related evidence into EDIS, makes copies, enters data into computer system, searches files for documents).

    7. Performs duties as a Title Specialist Cashier at other Title Office locations (main office or branch offices) as directed.

    8. Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance.

    9. Meets all job safety requirements and all applicable OSHA safety standards that pertain to essential functions.

    10. Performs any and all other duties as assigned or directed in order to promote, further, or ensure the effective and efficient operations of the Lorain County Clerk of Court’s office.
