Psychiatrist evaluates, diagnoses and treats patients with mental illnesses through a combination of personal counseling (psychotherapy), psychoanalysis, hospitalization, and/or medication. Performs initial psychiatric assessments, develops individualized care plans, and implements treatment for the patient. Being a Psychiatrist prescribes psychopharmacological medications as needed. Monitors and records client progress, and amends treatment plan according to patient response. Additionally, Psychiatrist requires a MD degree. Must have completed a psychiatry residency. Typically reports to a medical director. Typically requires board certification by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN). Requires a state license to practice. Psychiatrist's years of experience requirement may be unspecified. Certification and/or licensing in the position's specialty is the main requirement. (Copyright 2024 Salary.com)

Vinfen, the largest provider of community based clinical services in Massachusetts, is seeking Psychiatrists to provide consultation to our outpatient and community-based teams. The Psychiatrists will work with interdisciplinary teams to provide evidence based intensive home, community based and outpatient services to adults and adolescents with severe, persistent mental illness living in the Merrimack Valley area.
In conjunction with team leadership and clinical staff, the Psychiatrists will advise on risk mitigation for Persons Served with high risk behaviors, suggest appropriate interventions to guide treatment and work with team leadership to collaborate with various health care providers to gain access to needed health care.
The number of scheduled hours will be negotiated upon interview with current needs being between 10 and 30 hours per week. The successful candidate will have a valid license to practice medicine in Massachusetts in addition to prior experience working in related settings.

- Must possess current Medical license and minimum of board eligibility in Psychiatry in Massachusetts Dual certification in Adult Psychiatry and Child Psychiatry, strongly preferred.

- Current malpractice insurance
- Must be able to become CPR certified within 2 weeks of employment and complete CPSS training as directed.
- Must be able to successfully pass a CORI, reference, and national fingerprinting background check.
