Psychiatrist evaluates, diagnoses and treats patients with mental illnesses through a combination of personal counseling (psychotherapy), psychoanalysis, hospitalization, and/or medication. Performs initial psychiatric assessments, develops individualized care plans, and implements treatment for the patient. Being a Psychiatrist prescribes psychopharmacological medications as needed. Monitors and records client progress, and amends treatment plan according to patient response. Additionally, Psychiatrist requires a MD degree. Must have completed a psychiatry residency. Typically reports to a medical director. Typically requires board certification by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN). Requires a state license to practice.     Columbus offers a salary range of $315,000 to $320,000 plus a $25,000 sign-on bonus complemented by a full, comprehensive benefits package.

    The ideal candidate for this position will be a board-certified or board-eligible psychiatrist with experience in inpatient psychiatry.

    Facility Physical Environment: Inpatient mental-health facility in Central/North Central Vermont

    Job Requirements:

    • Graduate of an approved School of Medicine/Residency Trained
    • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Psychiatry
    • Possess a Vermont medical license that is active and in good standing or ability to obtain one
    • 1-2 years of inpatient psychiatry experience
