Public School Teacher jobs in California

Public School Teacher prepares lesson plans and instructs students in an assigned school. Develops and implements grade appropriate course work, activities, and assessments to meet the academic needs of children in a K-12 classroom setting. Being a Public School Teacher evaluates and monitors student's performance. Assesses and documents students' progress. Additionally, Public School Teacher participates in development and implementation of Individual Education Plans for specific students. Resolves classroom issues and conflicts. May participate in implementing special programs for students. May supervise teaching assistants. Requires a bachelor's degree. May require specific state-level teaching license. Typically requires Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Typically reports to a principal. The Public School Teacher occasionally directed in several aspects of the work.     Job Responsibilities

    • Create daily lesson plans that are engaging, educational and exciting for students, encouraging them to want to come to school.
    • Deliver lesson plans in a way that catches the attention of the students and keeps them occupied and excited about learning.
    • Reach school and course-wide performance goals for every student in class.
    • Watch closely for students who are struggling with emotional problems, learning disabilities or situations at home, and help them find the resources they need.
    • Grade papers and homework regularly to keep students and their families updated.
    • Increase educational knowledge and stay up to date on new methods by joining professional organizations, attending continuing education courses and attending regular training sessions for teachers.
    • Weave goals, competencies and objectives into lesson plans in ways that directly apply to the student’s life.
    • Offer praise and encouragement to students when they do well and when they are struggling, and teach them that they have the power to do well in school no matter what.

    Required Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree
    • Valid California Multiple Subject Teaching Credential or ability to attain one based on out of state certification
    • CLAD, BCLAD, or English Language Learner Authorization
    • Must possess a growth mindset and be able to use feedback to refine practice
